A Post-COVID Car Check-Up Might Be What The Doctor Ordered

2020 was a wild year for all of us. With the pandemic looming and everyone forced to social distance, work from home, and lock down, a lot of us didn’t see much time on the roads last year. Now, in 2021, with a vaccine taking hold and things returning to normal, your car may have been sitting still for longer than ever before. Did you know problems can pop up with cars that have gone unused for extended periods of time? Urb’s Garage in Burlington and Erlanger, KY, would be happy to give your car a “back to normal” check-up, just to make sure everything is running the way it was before the world shut down.

What Can Happen If A Car Is Undriven?

It is generally recommended that you drive your car at least once every two weeks, and in lockdown, many of our cars went untouched for far longer than that. Cars are meant to be driven, and cars left to sit idle can have all kinds of problems pop up.

A Dead Battery

Even when your car isn’t being actively driven, the battery is always running. Going more than two weeks without driving your car – the act of which recharges the battery – can mean your battery dies without warning. If you haven’t driven your car in a while and it simply won’t start, there is a good chance a dead battery is at fault.

Tire Issues

Tires are another part of your car that need to be used regularly. Unused tires can lose air and become flat simply by the act of not being driven. Before you take an undriven car back out on the roads for the first time, do a thorough check of the tires on your own. If they seem pitted or overly flat, your going to want to have it towed to Urb’s Garage. We can help.

Other Problems

In an undriven car, fluids can dry up, rust can form on various parts of your engine, fuel line and braking systems, and pest infestation can even be a problem. If you bring your car for a post-pandemic check-up with Urb’s Garage, we’ll check every system in your vehicle to make sure it’s running and operating as it should.

As exciting as it is to get back to normal again, make sure your car is up to the task of returning to normal with you. Urb’s Garage in Burlington and Erlanger, KY, is here to help.
